Planes, no trains, & automobiles

This week finds us packing bags and cars and making a trip to the airport. McKinna flies out late tonite for Ohio. She is going with our friends, Paul & Michelle, to attend some big steam engine convention (not sure what they are called in steam engine lingo). The rest of us our making a quick trip to UT for a friend's wedding. Eliza will have an extended stay with Grandma & Grandpa Rose. When asked what she will do with Grandma she said, "I really like that Grandma lets me dry the dishes!" She is taking an assortment of other activities with her also. She will get to ride the airplane home, all by herself. Alan & Judy are considering doing an 8K trail run at Snowbird ski resort while there. Judy thinks they ought to take a look at the trail the day before as she is sure it is uphill both ways. But it would be a new experience!! Kaitlyn will visit with Great Aunt Janice and G&G Rose. I am sure she will relax in Janice's pool- weather permitting!! She will return home with the parental units and be an only child for a few days. Should be a fun couple of weeks for all involved.
~~Judy~~
**NOTE** Eliza decided the night before we were to come home that she just couldn't live without Mom for 10 days. She decided that she was just coming home with us. We will try again next year, but maybe for a shorter time period.

message from one parental unit

As one of the parental units (the affectionate name our children call us) to this blog, I thought I ought to put in my 2 cents worth (perhaps give the REAL story). I am not too computer literate. I got the picture up, but couldn’t get anything else working. I probably could have if I could have done it the way I wanted, but these blog places have templates and such and I couldn’t get it to do what I wanted it to. So McKinna fixed that and just kept on going. I guess blogging is all the rage. I personally feel that as long as my children blog on this site, you, the reader, will know way more than I would have ever considered letting the outside world know. That being said, please take whatever you read here with a grain of salt. As McKinna said, “The things written in this blog are not necessarily the feelings or opinions of the entire Homer family and should not be taken as such.”
From the female parental unit (MOM)

Oops

So about 5 seconds after that last post Kaideii and Eliza freaked. So here is my apology and future disclaimer.

Apology 1. I spelt Kaideii's name wrong originally I spelt it Kaiedii so sorry for switching the letters. Oops
Apology 2. I only wrote a line (and a half she will correct) about Eliza. i had fully intended on going back and writing more but i become overwhelmed with blog happiness and hit post without realizing i left her with only a line (and a half).

so here is a little more about Eliza
She just finished 2nd grade and though she is sad to leave her teacher she is ready for the summer and to move onto the great unknown. 3rd grade. Eliza became a Chess Wiz this year and loves to show us all up any chance she gets. Summer has just begun and we have already played countless games of badmitton, horse shoes, and croquet. She is also working on a beautiful tan.. actually its just happening cause she loves to be outside, but her tan worries her and she takes precautions to prevent skin cancer (she is too darn smart) isn't she fabulous. And as soon as the cherries are ripe she will have the ever familiar cherry stained feet of summer.

And here is the disclaimer
How much I write or how my spelling is has no correlation of my love for anyone. Also if I completely forget someone or only write a line (and possibly a half) about someone that does not mean I don't care about them or am angry with them or they aren't fun blah blah blah. Please insert any other ill feelings or offensiveness you may have taken from this blog here and then get over it. The things written in this blog are not necessarily the feelings or opinions of the entire Homer family and should not be taken as such.

Ok there it is and if anyone else has a problem with my posts feel free to let me know … but there are no guarantees I will do anything about it.

With love, McKinna

Success

Sweet victory!!!! Well it worked and now we can tell you all about our insanely exciting lives... Ok well we can tell you about our insane lives no guarantees about the exciting part. All the girls have just finished up another year of school.

Eliza is getting ready for a summer of adventure and getting into as much mischief as possible.

Kaiedii (AKA Kaitlyn, or Katie, or KD (she could never be in witness protection as she has already used all the names)) seems to never be done. She is always go go go and always to help others. She will have leadership events/conferences/trainings all throughout the summer, and then there are all of her young women responsibilities and her forever project of cleaning her room. That is just the tip of the iceberg.

McKinna will be working and living in Salem and coming home for the weekends. Her need for steam will be fed this summer since she gets to go to Ohio for a week for a steam engine fair and then she has another one over the course of two weekends in Brooks, OR. McKinna has found a new love recently and that is airplanes. She always seems to be doing different stuff and we are excited to see where this will take her.

Alan has been circling the globe with trips to Malaysia, Canada, West coast, East coast, South coast, and North... not coast. He seems to be traveling so much so that he missed his birthday by crossing the international dateline at such a convenient time... too bad he still looks a year older ;) He is training for the Portland Marathon yet again after a few set backs with a torn blah blah (something in the knee) ripped ankle, Broken heart (after seeing his favorite daughter graduate this year (guess who is writing this)) and others. Good Luck Dad!!!!!

Judy is continuing her fabulous job at a doctor's office and loving it. How she has time for everything no one knows, but she has recently completed Marathon, Mini-Triathlon, Duathalon, and running a house of two teenage girls and another one who thinks she is. Of course always looking for another challenge she is now training for an 8K trail run in Utah. She will kick butt as usual.

Grandma and Grandpa Homer are going to Idaho again this summer. They keep themselves busy with doctors’ appointments, mail, and trying to keep the granddaughters in line... I guess you can't teach a young dog new tricks either, cause no matter how hard she tries we just can't get it straight which towel is used for drying hands and which is for dishes :)

well this is a super long blog but we are kinda catching up so forgive us... or don't i guess thats up to you.

Updates on our life are coming to a blogspot near you... date TBD so stay tuned :)

Check 123

So we are having a little technical difficulties with our blog so we are doing a little test to see if we can get it working. wish us luck :) although if you see this it probably worked.
